Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
The Puppy Foundation Award certificate is awarded on the last session of the course if the owner and pup have attended at least four of the six sessions and the puppy has covered everything in the course. We start a new puppy course at the beginning of every school half-term and it is usually six weeks in duration. There is no test and there is not an examiner. Best Pals is listed by the Kennel Club, which means we have been approved to run their Good Citizen Awards. There are four of these: Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The scheme is optional, non-competitive and straightforward. On the successful completion of each course members will be awarded a certificate from the Kennel Club to mark their achievement. You have to pass Bronze before you can take Silver etc. We hold the awards approximately 2-3 times a year when owner and dog are ready. A Kennel Club approved external examiner will be invited in to conduct the test. Members take this if they want to, it is not compulsory.
